International Symposium on Transboundary Waters

September 9, 2008: The UNESCO Chair INWEB together with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, UNESCO IHP, SAHRA and IGRAC is organising the fourth International Symposium on Transboundary Waters Management, from 15th - 18th October 2008 in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece. This is the follow-up to the III TWM symposium held in 2006 in Ciudad-Real, Spain.

Important:  In response to numerous requests the deadline for submission of abstracts has been extended to 15th June 2008.  You can submit the abstract on-line via the conference site  www.inweb.gr/twm4

The aims of the Symposium are:

  1. To assess the state of the art and the progress recently made in the sustainable management of transboundary waters by different disciplines such as law, socio-economics and water science;
  2. To review current major international programmes concerned with the assessment and management of transboundary water resources; and
  3. To promote interdisciplinary approaches for integrated transboundary water resources management.
