Meta Information Module (MiM)

Meta Information Module (MiM) is the reference core of the Global Groundwater Information System (GGIS); it contains meta information on organisations, people, documents international projects and tools. In the case of documents and tools, the module also provides links to downloads, when available on the web.

Start MiM

The MiM is envisaged as the link between the Global Overview and the Collaborative Environment of the GGIS. With the Global Overview you can get a global distribution of groundwater attributes as well as their overview per geographical unit (country or groundwater region). Once focused, thematically or geographically, you can use Meta Information Module to search for additional published information or for the relevant organisations and experts. This could lead to establishment of international co-operation and the use of Collaborative Environment for that purpose.

The main search terms in the MiM are geographical units (countries), international projects and the groundwater related themes. At this moment, the information on international projects is still to be collected and stored in the MIM; this "project" place is meant primarily for meta information on transboundary regional projects such as SADC, Iullemeden, Guarani, etc, but also for global groundwater-related projects.

The themes relate to certain groundwater issues such as recharge, pollution sources, modelling and similar. The list of themes is considered neither exhaustive nor definitive; the same holds for other MiM search terms such as organisation and tools categories. Hence, your suggestions on update of the MiM search terms are very much welcome!

At ISARM, we have started to fill in the MiM with information currently available to us. That is however just a small piece of information that is available to the international groundwater community. Therefore ISARM counts on you! If there is info on organisations, people, documents, tools known to you and you think it should be disseminated via MiM, please fill in the corresponding reference cards (left on this page) and send them to IGRAC.
